The Indian language School is located in Lagos, Nigeria. It was established in April 1982, and is a private school run by a Board of Trustees, under the umbrella of the Indian High Commission in the country. The school is a co-educational day school with classes from LKG to Grade XII. The school was opened in response to the wishes of the Indian community, so that Indian children living in Lagos, while benefiting from exposure to a foreign culture, would not lose touch with their own. Given the ethnic and linguistic diversity of India, it was particularly essential that Indian children who wish to return to India for further studies, learnt the national language and became familiar with the education system followed there.
